The forum will be held on Monday, October 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, 600 West Lanier Avenue, Suite 205, Fayetteville. The public is invited. Parents and students are encouraged to attend. Admission is free.

“Preparing our students to work in tomorrow’s economy requires aligning educational curriculum, workforce training initiatives and parent expectations. For that reason we are pleased to provide a forum engaging the business community, school system and Fayette County parents and students in conversation,” said Kimberly Schnoes, 2017 Fayette Chamber Board chair and chair of the Chamber’s Workforce and Education Committee. “Collaboration between Fayette County’s school system and our community’s employers is equipping our young people with critical employability skills and experiences. We look forward to highlighting the successes of our Fayette County schools, student internship experiences and the partnerships with corporations providing some of these opportunities.”

In addition to Dr. Barrow’s address and the student and employer panel, Chris Clark will discuss the importance of workforce development to growing Georgia’s vibrant economy. Having been named the #1 state to do business four years in a row by economic development trade magazine Site Selection, the state must continue to focus on cultivating a world-class workforce and ensure that its communities provide opportunities for students to acquire skills and remain local to fill the talent pipeline.

The Fayette Chamber of Commerce Workforce and Education Forum is sponsored by Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Coweta-Fayette EMC. Additional event information, including an agenda and full list of speakers is available at www.FayetteChamber.org.
