The awards program is an opportunity for FCREA to acknowledge students in the school system for their hard work and commitment to academic excellence, and also recognize FCREA members for their contribution to the association.

Corben McEver of Rising Starr Middle, Miles Thornton of Flat Rock Middle, Sara Annis Ali of Bennett’s Mill Middle, Sydney Brown of Whitewater Middle, and Hannah Grace Seay of J.C. Each year, the academic award is presented to one eighth grade student from each Fayette County middle school. Students must complete an application to be considered for the award.

FCREA awarded Christina Nguyen of Whitewater High a $1,500 scholarship. The scholarship is presented to one graduating high school senior who plans to enter the field of education; Nguyen will attend Columbus State University. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on the evaluation of their submitted application.

The Fayette County Retired Educators Association is one of 128 local units of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA), uniting retired educators for fellowship, support, and educational/community service, and to improve the benefits for all retired educators through cooperation with local, state and national organizations.
