Fayette County Schools Take Seven First Place Finishes at Morehouse Math Competition

Fayette students dominated the competition after North Fayette Elementary, Flat Rock Middle, and Sandy Creek High took top placements at the seventh annual Math Competition Bootcamp at Morehouse College.Fayette County Schools Take Seven First Place Finishes at Morehouse Math Competition

North Fayette Elementary swept the fifth grade division with Morghan Reckley taking first place; Madison Reckley, second place; and Estelle Brock, third place.

Additionally, Flat Rock Middle students swept both the seventh and eighth grade divisions. The winners were (seventh grade) Yosbani Vasallo, first place; Haley Yerby, second place; Morgan Bryant, third place; and (eighth grade) Brooke Loyd, first place; Matthew Suess, second place; and Aaron Bryant, third place.

Melinda Crowe took second place in the sixth grade division.

Sandy Creek High competitors secured all placements in the ninth, 10th, and 11th grade divisions. The winners were (ninth grade) Abby Paver, first place; Charimsa Harris, second place; Prince Maduka, third place; (10th grade) Lily Mai, first place; Aleksander Stec, second place; Kennedy Hill, third place; and (11th grade) Brian Nguyen, first place; Brandon Worrell, second place; and Jimena Molina, third place.

In the 12th grade division Azucena Molina took first place and Andrea Huisso placed third.

Sandy Creek senior John Seuss was the overall winner of the competition and received the Phaidra Buchanan award, named after Sandy Creek’s 2017 graduate who was a four-time winner of the overall award.
