Each year bands from all over the United States apply for the invitation, but this year bands set a record high for the most submitted applications. Whitewater Middle is one of seven middle school bands invited to the festival.

Middle and high school bands submit a detailed application and a recording of their music, which is evaluated by a group prestigious band directors and conductors. Bands that demonstrate an exemplary level of excellence receive an invitation to perform at the concert festival.

The Whitewater Middle School Symphonic Band will participate in various musical performance and concerts as well as have an opportunity to take master classes and receive scheduled concert observations from nationally renowned evaluators.

The Southeastern Regional Concert Festival is designed to advance student excellence and to support advocacy of music and arts education to middle and high school bands. Participating bands are recognized as being the finest bands in the southeastern region of the United States.

This is Whitewater’s first time participating in this festival, “This is a great accomplishment for our Symphonic Band and it will surely be a fun experience for us,” says Whitewater’s band director Elizabeth Haynes.
