Fayette Schools Celebrates Veterans, Spring Hill Elementary Hosts Veterans “Hero Day”

From parades to ceremonies, schools across the county held Veterans Day celebrations to honor the men and women in their communities who have served in all branches of the United States military.
 
Spring Hill Elementary hosted a “Veterans Hero Day” to honor veterans from the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. 
 
Veterans received the royal treatment as they were treated to a special breakfast in the cafeteria. 
 
Following the breakfast, all grade levels at Spring Hill paid tribute to the veterans with various musical selections, poems and raps. Each veteran in attendance was called by name and given a standing ovation for their commitment and service. 
 
The celebration continued with a “walk of honor” where students lined the halls waving American flags honoring each veteran as they passed by. 
 
To end the ceremony, veterans were invited to visit several classrooms for a special question and answer session. Students were eager and excited to learn more about the veterans in their community. 
 
Starr’s Mill High, Braelinn Elementary, Sara Harp Minter Elementary, and Peachtree City Elementary hosted a breakfast for veterans within the school community. 
 
Many schools like Peeples and Oak Grove Elementary participated in annual Veterans Day parades where students and faculty lined the hallways singing military songs while veterans walked through. 
 
Veterans Day assemblies were a way Bennett’s Mill Middle, Flat Rock Middle, Fayetteville Elementary, Huddleston Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, and Inman Elementary honored veterans. Veterans from the community, faculty and staff were recognized for their service. 
 
In addition to the Veterans Day assembly, Flat Rock and Whitewater middle schools hosted receptions for all veterans and their families.
 
Students, faculty, staff, and veterans filled the auditorium where Sandy Creek High’s Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) hosted a special Veterans Day ceremony. 
 
Fayette County High School collected pictures of their faculty and staff who have served in the military and posted their pictures on the main hall’s bulletin boards, and recognized them on the morning announcements.
