High School Musicians Selected to Honor Band

Ten of Fayette’s finest student musicians have been invited to participate in the 69th Annual University of Georgia JanFest, a pioneering band invitational established in 1950 for high school students. 
 
The participants are (McIntosh High) Zachary Moore, Amy Buckalew, and Matthew Shatto; and (Whitewater High) Mason Rzepkowski, Emily Harris, Courtney Wagner, Pritica Patel, Baylie Bates, Lilly Gable, and Ethan Earl. 
 
Students were selected as participants by their band director based on their musical accomplishments, positive attitude, and willingness to learn. 
 
Under the direction of professional musicians, these students will perform alongside 1000 other students  from 130 schools. The festival will take place at the University of Georgia from January 17-20. 
 
In addition to the festival, the UGA Honor Band offers participants opportunities for students to attend clinics presented by faculty and staff members from the university.
