Students Have Stellar Performance at Regional Math Competition

Fayette County’s middle schools had a strong performance at the Griffin RESA Regional Middle School Math Contest, with teams earning the top two placements in two divisions and students taking the top two placements in the individual winners overall category.Students Have Stellar Performance at Regional Math Competition

Flat Rock Middle and Whitewater Middle placed first and second, respectively, in Division II (medium schools).

Rising Starr Middle and J.C. Booth Middle placed first and second, respectively, in Division III (larger schools).

Students from Flat Rock Middle and Rising Starr Middle secured the top two placements in the individual winners overall category. Brooke Loyd of Flat Rock Middle took first place, and Michael Lin of Rising Starr Middle took second place.

Over 30 middle schools and more than 150 students took part in the competition. All winners received a trophy.

The Griffin RESA Middle School Math Contest is a regional competition among middle schools in the Griffin RESA region that consists of school systems in Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.
