Team Takes Second Place at Georgia Elementary Science Olympiad

After taking second place in the Fayette County Elementary Science Olympiad and earning an invitation to compete at the state level, one Fayette County elementary science team is now ranked at the top in Georgia.Team Takes Second Place at Georgia Elementary Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad team at Oak Grove Elementary competed in the Georgia Elementary Science Olympiad against 64 of the best elementary teams in the state, including Peeples Elementary, the first place winner of the Fayette competition, and walked away with second place honors.

The two-person team of Jagad Krishnan and Manish Gurugari demonstrated the ultimate meaning of teamwork and communication, competing together in 24 total events, and earning the second best score in the state. They were coached by fifth grade teacher Christopher Brown.

Elementary Science Olympiad is a hands-on, fun science experience where students compete in various events and experiments using ordinary classroom and household supplies and materials.
