Art Students Take Top Placements at State Competition

Watch out Michelangelo! Two student artists from Fayetteville Elementary are being recognized statewide for their artwork after taking top placements in the Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest.Art Students Take Top Placements at State Competition
 
Students Alfonzo Mitchell, who placed second, and Youcef Zeguelli, who placed third, in their respected divisions were among 13 kindergarten through fifth grade students out of 1,300 from 28 schools who placed in the 29thannual conservation art competition.
 
Participants entered at the local school level with drawings and paintings of Georgia’s native plants and animals in line with the 2019 contest theme, “Pollinator Power!” Drawings were judged on aspects such as theme, originality and the quality and impact of the artwork. Top school-level entries proceeded to the state contest at the State Botanical Garden at the University of Georgia in Athens; the winning artwork was displayed in the garden’s Visitor Center and Conservatory.
