From parades to ceremonies, schools across the county held Veterans Day celebrations to honor the men and women in their communities who have served in all branches of the United States military.
Peeples Elementary hosted a special Veterans Day program to honor over 80 veterans from the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.
Peeples’ fifth grade chorus paid tribute to the veterans with various musical selections and a special essay. Each veteran in attendance was called by military branch and given a standing ovation for their commitment and service.
The celebration continued with a “walk of honor” where all grade level students lined the halls waving American flags honoring each veteran as they passed by. The parade was led by members of the Starr’s Mill High School marching band.
To end the ceremony, veterans and their families were invited to a special reception.
Crabapple Lane and Robert J. Burch elementary schools honored veterans by also participating in a special Veterans Day parade.
Spring Hill Elementary, Starr’s Mill High, Braelinn Elementary, Sara Harp Minter Elementary, and Peachtree City Elementary hosted a breakfast for veterans within the school community.
