Two Students Selected for State Superintendent Advisory Council

This year two high students per Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) were selected to serve on Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2020-2021 student advisory council; both students representing Griffin RESA are from Fayette County. Griffin RESA, in addition to Fayette, services public school systems in Butts, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.

Adelaide Barrett, a senior at McIntosh High, and Ethan Ness, a ninth grader at Starr’s Mill High, are among the 64 Georgia high school students selected by Woods to serve on the council. They were selected from a pool of more than 1,400 applicants who applied. Students were chosen based on the strength of their essay answers, which focused on their ideas for public education.

Throughout the school year, the students will meet virtually with Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom and other education related issues, as well as serve as his ambassadors to their respective schools.
