Yearbooks Recognized for Excellence

McIntosh High School’s “The Legend” and Whitewater High School’s “Vision” 2019 yearbooks have been recognized for excellence and featured in the Jostens Look Book 2020, celebrating the best-of-the-best in yearbook design and inclusivity.

The Jostens Look Book is a collection of outstanding yearbooks and their creative themes, cool covers, beautiful designs, relevant coverage of school events, meaningful storytelling, and stunning photography. Along with design excellence, the annually published Look Book honors the work of the students who create the yearbook over the course of 6-12 months. Through it, they chronicle the experiences, stories and achievements most relevant to students and that academic year.

Both yearbooks were recognized for their page spreads. McIntosh received recognition for its academic page spread. Judges noted excellence in spacing of elements and use of graphics in the design of the spread, and outstanding captioning and folio content in regards to the text. Whitewater received recognition for its people spread. In the spread’s design, the judges noted exceptional use of color, fonts, modules and overall layout. Yearbook advisors are Shanon Woolf for McIntosh and Amy Bishop for Whitewater.

McIntosh High’s “The Legend” and Whitewater High’s “Vision” were two of only 478 yearbooks selected from over 1,200 that were submitted for consideration. The 2020 panel of judges, comprised of nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisors, selected the best examples of yearbook spreads and covers to make up the 312-page Look Book 2020.
