Superintendent and Board Thank Voters for Their Support of ESPLOST

May 25, 2022

The Fayette County Public School System thanks the community for its support to continue the one-percent Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) for Fayette’s schools.

Fayette County School Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Patterson says he appreciates the confidence and support that the community has for the school system, and shares a special message of gratitude to the county’s voters who made the ESPLOST renewal a victory for students, parents, teachers, and residents of the county.

“On behalf of the Fayette County Board of Education, our students, and our faculty and staff, I would like to thank Fayette County voters for continuing the ESPLOST. Our pledge is to continue to be wise stewards of the taxpayers’ money, and to use the revenue to help prepare our students to obtain their first choices in higher education, career, and future goals,” says Dr. Patterson.

Funds generated from the tax will help pay for additions, renovations and improvements to schools and buildings, upgrade technology, improve safety and security, and purchase equipment, new school buses, textbooks and instructional materials, as well as reduce debt service to maintain a low millage rate for property owners.
