Inman Elementary 3rd graders put on a big parade.
Based around the book “Balloons Over Broadway,” the STEAM activity saw students design and create their own balloons for a parade. They chose their own designs and had time to draw out their plans and 20-30 minutes to bring their balloons to life. Once the time limit passed, students reflected on their work and made any necessary changes. At the end of the activity, they had a class parade, and each student took turns sharing about their design and walking their balloon around the classroom for everyone to see.
In addition to learning about the origins of the Thanksgiving parade, the activity encouraged creativity and helped students learn how to solve problems independently.
