Runners go the distance at state cross country meet
The GHSA State Cross Country Championships featured strong showings from several Fayette squads. Along with four top 10 team finishes, local athletes racked up top 50 finishes among individual runners.
In Class 5A, McIntosh won silver on the girls side.
Madison Stoots was their top finisher at 17th overall, followed by Carly Maday (26th), Sydney Maranzano (28th), and Kirsten Rose (34th).
In Class 4A, Starr’s Mill had a strong showing for both boys and girls.
The boys finished 4th overall. Nate Pacetti was their top finisher at 8th, followed by Chase Griswold (12th), Bankson Roach (13th), Jackson Underwood (37th), and David Shedd (50th).
The girls took 10th place. Andrea Ramos was their top finisher at 32nd, with Ana Miller in 47th.
In Class 3A, Whitewater led the way among local teams.
The girls placed 8th. Olivia Leskusky was their top finisher at 25th, followed by Rachel Vann (34th) and Madison Kellerman (49th).
The boys finished 11th overall with Austin Chrouch placing 31st.
The Fayette County boys took 15th with Allen Israel Sulton IV placing 16th overall.
The Sandy Creek boys placed 23rd with Sam Brown their top finisher at 60th.
