McIntosh leads way at HOSA State
McIntosh High led a strong showing for the county at the 2025 HOSA State Leadership Conference.
McIntosh High’s Riyali Dayani won 1st place in Health Career Photography.
It wasn’t the only strong showing for the Chiefs, with 8 more placing top 10 in their disciplines: Vedita Sawhney (2nd place, Medical Reading), Isabella Basmajian (3rd, Dental Terminology), Cheryll George (4th, Job Seeking Skills), Xiaoqing Huang (4th, Extemporaneous Writing), Natalie Jacobson (5th, Healthy Living), Tiffany Costa (7th, Phlebotomy), Simrah Batliwala (8th, Medical Spelling), and Duaa Meghani (10th, Research Poster).
Additionally, McIntosh’s Abigail D’Morais was elected as a Georgia HOSA State Officer and will serve as the Vice President of Officer Relations for the 2025-2026 school year.
Fayette County High’s team of Deborah Nyarko, Sheeza Virani, Amarachi Ohaya, Jazmine Thomson, Nina Le placed 3rd in Public Health and will also advance to internationals.
Sandy Creek’s Zanovia Matthews placed 7th in Clinical Laboratory Science, and Areli Ruiz-Merino placed 9th in Family Medicine Physician.
Starr’s Mill’s Ella Griswold placed 9th in Researched Persuasive Writing & Speaking, and Allissa Chiu placed 10 in Nutrition.
Whitewater’s Matthew McClanahan placed 8th in Job Seeking Skill, and Grace Hoofnagle placed 9th in Medical Reading.
The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill, and leadership development of all health science technology education students, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community.
