Members who signed up during the months of May and June had the option of donating their initiation fee to the Fayette County Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that solely supports teachers of the Fayette County Public School System by providing funding in the form of competitive grants for programs and materials that enhance classroom learning.

The donated proceeds will be used to fund teacher grants for the 2017-2018 school year. Grant funding is focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) initiatives that teachers would like to implement in their classrooms to help enhance the curriculum already being taught. Teachers have until August 31 to complete their grant requests. Grant recipients will be announced in September.

“We are very grateful to ClubCorp for selecting the Fayette County Education Foundation as the recipient of these funds. The Foundation thanks all of the club members who made donations in support of our schools. We will be able to fund more grants this year thanks to these additional funds,” says Melinda Berry-Dreisbach, treasurer of the Fayette County Education Foundation and public information specialist for the school system.

The Foundation is governed by an all-volunteer board of directors, and has regular monthly business meetings at the Fayette County Board of Education building. Since there are no overhead costs for salaries and office space rental, 100 percent of proceeds donated to the Foundation go directly toward funding the needs of classroom teachers.
