When a school wins the National Blue Ribbon award in Fayette County, faculty and staff receive a special treat, lunch cooked and served by Fayette County Public School Superintendent Dr. Joseph Barrow.Superintendent Cooks and Serves Lunch at Kedron Elementary

Barrow, along with other county office staff, cooked and served hotdogs and hamburgers to the approximately 80 teachers, administrators and staff members at Kedron Elementary in honor of the school being named a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

Barrow, decked out in his chef’s hat and apron, personally served each teacher and staff member with a hamburger or hotdog, and sometimes both if they preferred, as they came through the lunch line. The menu also included baked beans, slaw, pasta salad, chips and cookies.

Kedron is the first school in the county to earn the National Blue Ribbon award twice. The school received the first award in 2006.
