Fayette’s School Nutrition Program Wins State Award

The United States Department of Agriculture has named The Fayette County Public School System’s School Nutrition Program winner of the 2018 Georgia Best Practice Award.Fayette’s School Nutrition Program Wins State Award
 
The nutrition program won in the category of Program Integrity in Child Nutrition Programs, which awards school systems with effective management of Child Nutrition Programs in a manner that instills public confidence. 
 
During the 2016-2017 school year, Fayette’s school nutrition program passed their Administrative Review from the Georgia Department of Education. The review provides a comprehensive evaluation of school meals programs. Due to the successful passing of the review, other school districts in Georgia contacted Fayette’s school nutrition program to gain insight into how to successfully pass the Administrative Review. 
 
Fayette County Public Schools Nutrition Director Kokeeta Wilder says, “The training, organization, and preparation has led to many school nutrition programs learning, growing, and working together to better their programs.”
 
Fayette County was one of 50 schools in the state of Georgia to receive the state award.  
 
School systems were presented with their awards during the annual Georgia School Nutrition Association (GSNA) kickoff luncheon on September 27 in Macon, Georgia.
