REACH Students Intern at City Hall

For the last couple of months, Fayette’s “Reaching Educational and Career Heights” (REACH) program students have gained an experience of a lifetime after interning at Fayetteville’s City Hall.
 
REACH interns perform a variety of duties at City Hall such as sorting, shredding, and disposing documents – they even have their own small office. This internship also provides students the opportunity to work closely with Fayetteville’s mayor, Ed Johnson. 
 
REACH program teacher Ivory Cloud, says “The City Hall staff welcomes us weekly and offers all our students the benefits of working at City Hall.”
 
“This has been a great collaboration between the REACH program and City Hall. The students are learning so much as they work,” says Bellamy.
 
REACH is a program for students with developmental disabilities ages 18-21 that helps them get into the workforce and become independent and productive citizens. Partnerships with different businesses like City Hall make it possible for REACH students to utilize independence and self-discipline.
