DECA Students Head to State Competition

A total of 21 students from Sandy Creek High and Whitewater High schools have earned spots to compete at the Georgia DECA Career and Development Conference in February.DECA Students Head to State Competition

From various types of marketing and business management to finance, and hospitality and tourism, Fayette’s students will go head-to-head with the best in the state in their competitive events.

Students advanced to the state competition by taking top awards in their events at the regional contest. Students advancing to the state competition, and their placements at the regional event are as follows: (Sandy Creek High) First Place: Jade Croslan, Food Marketing Series; Second Place: Tyra Blake, Principles of Marketing; Third Place: Taylor Canady, Principals of Finance; Jacob Rauch, Quick Serve Restaurant Management; Maya Dacres, Hotel and Lodging Marketing Series, Jailyn Bettis, Principals of Hospitality and Tourism; Fourth Place: Paris Thompson, Sports and Entertainment Marketing. (Whitewater High) First Place: Joey Taravella, Principals of Business Management and Administration; Anna Rzepkowski, Principals of Hospitality and Tourism; Edward Huang, Business Finance; Mason Forsyth, Business Services Marketing; Mason Rzepkowski, Business Communications; Devin DeCicco, Food Marketing; Matthew Moore, Personal Financial Literacy; Jonathan Stover, Quick Serve Restaurant Management; Mckenzie McManaman, Retail Merchandising; Second Place: Coleman Oates, Principals of Business Management and Administration; Morgan Anderson, Automotive Services Marketing; Jacob Hartley, Hotel and Lodging Management; Justyn Loper, Restaurant and Food Services Management; JJ Riesberg, Sports and Entertainment Marketing.

The DECA State Career and Development Conference will take place February 14-16 in Atlanta. In addition to the competitive events, students will also have the opportunity to participate in leadership workshops and trainings.   

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
