Class crafts cranes for law enforcement

It was a small gesture of thanks to officers who sacrifice so much for the community. For a class project, Peeples Elementary 5th grade enrichment students crafted paper peace cranes and thank you cards for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The heartfelt thank you was in progress for some time. It started as Dr. April Degennaro and her class were zooming with a class in Israel as both classes read “A Thousand Cranes” by Yasunari Kawabata.

Dr. Degennaro retired before the project could be completed, and Laura Brown picked it up and ran with it. It took the class months, but they made 135 cranes and delivered them to Investigator Anne Malautea, with the Fayette County Sheriffs' Office.
