SAT Scores Increase for 2021

Fayette County’s public high school students posted a significant increase on the 2021 SAT while outperforming both the state and nation, according to results released by the College Board.

Students posted a mean score of 1152, a 10 percent increase over the 2020 mean score of 1124. The 2021 score was 75 points above the state’s score, and 91 points above the nation’s score.

Fayette has the second highest mean score in the state and metro Atlanta when compared to school systems with more than 1,000 test takers.

In a comparative breakdown of the mean score, Fayette had an evidence-based reading and writing (ERW) mean of 582; the state posted a 546 mean and the nation a 533 mean. In math, Fayette had a mean of 570 compared to the state’s mean of 531 and the nation’s mean of 528.

Out of the 365 Georgia High schools with 2021 SAT scores, Fayette’s schools are in the top 29 percent in the state with the highest mean scores. McIntosh High came in 10th statewide with a mean score of 1226 (ERW 614 and math 612); Starr’s Mill High was 26th with a mean score of 1156 (ERW 578 and math 578); Whitewater High was 28th with a mean score of 1152 (ERW 587 and math 565); Sandy Creek High was 85th with a mean score of 1066 (ERW 543 and math 523); and Fayette County High was 105th with a mean score of 1042 (ERW 537 and math 505).
