Spencer Kalafut is the only guitarist from Georgia, and one of 48 in the nation, selected to perform in the first-ever guitar ensemble of the NAfME.

Spencer, a senior at Whitewater, is a member of the school’s jazz ensemble as well as the chamber orchestra where he plays the double bass. As a double bassist, he participated in the Georgia Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra last March. He is also a guitar student in Darilyn Esterline’s guitar class at the school.

Spencer will join the “best of the best” guitarists in the nation for a special concert at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on November 28 in the resort’s ballroom.

Leading up to the concert, he and the other selected students will rehearse a challenging repertoire under the direction of Dr. Michael Quantz, a nationally recognized and leading advocate for guitar education, and whose ensemble program at the University of Texas at Brownsville is unsurpassed in musicianship and accomplishment.
