Bubble gum makes writing pop for Crocs
Cleveland Elementary 3rd graders used a creative writing assignment and bubble gum to chew on the concept of temporal words.
While working on a descriptive writing activity and focusing on temporal words (words referring to time), students added a twist to make the lesson really pop. The Crocs were able to chew gum as they worked writing paragraphs on how to blow a bubble.
During the planning stage, they told their teachers about their process, and the teachers tried it out for them to encourage them to add more details and be more descriptive in their writing.
The teachers are confident the lesson will stick with them longer than the flavor of the bubble gum.
“I hope they took away the importance of temporal words and using descriptive language in their writing,” said Chrissy Knovicka.
