Peeples builds fun on 100th day
Peeples Elementary kindergarteners put on their hard hats and tool belts to build up a big celebration for the 100th day of school.
Every kindergarten classroom was turned into the 10x10 Construction Company for the day. Students had 10 different tasks they had to complete to fill up the 100s chart. Jobs included building a bridge out of play doh and popsicle sticks, building a tower with 100 blocks, and cup stacking with 100 cups. They also had to write their numbers 1-100 to the best of their ability.
After each job was finished, they got to add 10 to the hundreds chart, and, by the end of the day, they had built all the way up to 100. The goal is to reinforce the math standard of counting to 100 by 10s and 1s.
Kindergarten teacher Amanda DeVilla always looks forward to the 100th day celebration.
“It is one of the best days of the year!,” she said. “We also hope they will always remember this fun day in kindergarten.”
