Cultural Fair brings PTC Elem. closer together

The world came to Peachtree City Elementary for a Cultural Fair celebrating the many traditions within the Panther family.

ESOL teacher Shelly Jones and the Cultural Committee, comprised of school teachers and parents, planned, organized, decorated, and cleaned for the spectacular event.

“We hope that students and families feel a greater sense of school community, understand and appreciate each culture's unique ways of living, and develop a respect for other cultures,” said Jones.

A total of 15 countries were represented, with foods and beverages from multiple continents. While sampling the sumptuous treats, families could experience a host of difference activities. Games, books, art, jewelry, and artifacts were featured, along with informational displays. A fashion show with more than 30 participants showed off traditional clothing. There was also a “Cinderella Around the World” table with copies of the famous story and a chance to compare and contrast the different versions.

Earlier in the day, the Panthers even enjoyed an all-school assembly that featured the Kavanagh Irish Academy of Dance, a Japanese Chorus, and Japanese Dancers.

“We wanted to promote inclusivity, acceptance, and cultural understanding for all students, stakeholders, and the community at-large,” said Assistant Principal Jodii Gorski.
