AJC spotlights McIntosh football’s hot start

The McIntosh Chiefs are off to a flying start to their football season, and the state is taking notice. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution spotlighted the Chiefs this week as they seek their first 4-0 start since 2017.

Through the first three games, the team has scored 111 points, the most scored through the first three games in school history.

The piece highlights a number of key players, like quarterback Elliott Sturbaum, who has already thrown for 10 touchdowns, and defensive end Uche Iloh, a dual-sport star garnering heavy college interest.

“We’re trying hard to change the culture at McIntosh High School to a winning culture as opposed to being somebody’s homecoming game type of thing,” head coach Derek Smith told the AJC.
