• PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)

    What is PBIS?

School-wide PBIS is a proactive systematic approach that has been found to improve the behavior outcomes of students.  At Flat Rock Middle School, staff members work together to consistently teach, model, and reinforce appropriate behaviors that students are expected to use in all areas of the school, including hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, restrooms, media center, and bus loop.

PBIS teaches students to be responsible for their own behaviors. The three B’s of Flat Rock are:

Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe.

Attention is focused on creating and sustaining primary (school-wide), secondary (classroom), and tertiary (individual) systems of support that improve chances for academic success for all students.

This matrix lists the behaviors we expect from students.

    2017-18 PBIS Kick-Off

What great students we have here at Flat Rock!  We are in full swing with our intentional, PROACTIVE behavior program here this year.  We believe that when expectations and procedures are clear, behavior is less of an issue and we have MORE time to focus on the best things that Flat Rock has to offer like growing academically, socially, and being involved in lots of positive activities!

PBIS lessons will be taught during homeroom on PBIS Tuesday’s beginning in August. A PBIS kickoff assembly will be held in September and Flat Rock will be filled with PBIS spirit!!!

    PBIS Rewards / Eagle Bucks

To encourage positive behavior students can earn Eagle Bucks for following PBIS expectations.

Students can earn eagle bucks from Flat Rock faculty by displaying appropriate behavior and following the school’s 3 expectations/rules: BE Respectful, BE Responsible, BE Safe

Each student will receive a badge that can be scanned to reward eagle bucks that can be redeemed at our new PBIS store- “The Nest”, which is located near the concession stand behind the cafeteria.
