Class Rank/Weighted GPA

  • CLASS RANK: For students entering high school prior to the 2018-19 school year, class rank is determined using the student’s unweighted numeric GPA--all grades for all subjects; rank is cumulative. Unweighted numeric GPA uses the final grades posted to the transcript. For AP courses, this includes the 5 bonus points which are added by the teacher prior to posting to the transcript. AP bonus points are used in the computation of class rank.

For students entering high school in the 2018-19 and subsequent school years, class rank is reported using percentile only based on weighted GPA Quality point GPA.

WEIGHTED GPA: For students entering high school prior to the 2018-19 school year, weighted numeric GPA is calculated by adding 10 points to the final course average for all AP courses. Weighted GPA is calculated by adding 1 quality point for all AP courses.

For students entering high school in the 2018-19 and subsequent school years, only Quality Point GPA is reported on a student's transcript using a 4.0 Scale. Students earn 1.0 bonus quality point in AP Courses and .5 bonus quality point in dual enrollment courses.
