Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services led this hour and a half training session, which took place at the LEC Building A in the Media Center.

Fayette County was the first school system to start “Stop The Bleed” initiative, training school staff on the basic bleeding control fundamentals so they are able to provide immediate frontline aid until first responders arrive.

One of the techniques taught during training were the ABCs of Bleeding: A stands for alert, call 9-1-1 immediately; B is for bleeding, find the bleeding injury, and C is for compress, apply pressure to stop the bleeding.

Each school will receive 12 “Stop The Bleed” kits, which includes gauze, hemostatic dressings, tourniquets, scissors, and gloves.

Training faculty and staff on basic bleeding control is a way to educate staff and continue promoting the safety of our students.

Another training session will be held on Thursday, October 19th from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at the LEC Building A in the Media Center.
