Approximately 140 school bus drivers and monitors attended the breakfast that was held in the training room of the transportation building on Goza Road.

Fayette County School Board Vice-Chair Diane Basham stopped by to convey a message of appreciation on behalf of the school board. Transportation Director Roxane Owen also thanked the drivers and monitors for the important role they have in the lives and education of Fayette County students.

“Most people don’t realize how hard it is to be a school bus driver. Not only are you driving the bus, but you are also taking care of the students. I appreciate you and the commitment and dedication you have to your job,” Owen said prior to the breakfast.

The transportation staff honored the drivers and monitors by treating them to smorgasbord of sweet and savory foods that included chicken biscuits, grits, donuts and pastries, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit and cake. There was also a waffle station where trainer Dawn Wiley was serving up made-to-order waffles along with a multitude of toppings.
