SkillsUSA Students Earn Top Awards at Champions Rally

SkillsUSA students at high schools across the county earned top 10 placements in all but one competitive event at the Champions Rally held at the Georgia National Fair Grounds in October.SkillsUSA Students Earn Top Awards at Champions Rally

Students from Fayette County High, Sandy Creek High, and Starr’s Mill High placed in five of the six competitive events held at the rally. Students with the top 10 winning entries received a ribbon and a cash prize, and their entries were displayed at the Georgia National Fair. A total of eight awards were earned by students from the three high schools.

Fayette County High students took three of the awards with Gabe Buckshot and Jett Butler receiving second place in Chapter T-Shirt Design; Jaida Olverson, Omar Hussein, Aaron White, and Thai Xayavong earning 10th place in Chapter Recruitment Display; and Jett Butler and Briana Coreus winning 10th place in Career Pathway Display.

Sandy Creek High students also took three of the awards with Kayla Brooks, Rani Patel, and Delaney Schulten receiving seventh place in Chapter Recruitment Display; Summer Mashburn earning fifth place in Chapter Banner; and Vanessa Gamez, Gabrielle Madison, and Gianna Phan winning seventh place in Career Pathway Display.

Starr’s Mill High students Bridgett Davenport placed third in Chapter Recruitment Poster, and Abby Adams took fourth place in Chapter Recruitment Display.
