High Schools Select Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council

Ten high school students have been selected to serve as members of Fayette County Superintendent Dr. Joseph Barrow’s 2017-2018 Student Advisory Council.High Schools Select Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council

Each high school selected a junior and a senior to serve on the committee. This year’s Student Advisory Council is: Megan Brubaker and Chase Johnson from Whitewater, Tatmeen Khimani and Benjamin Runyan from Starr’s Mill, Hannah Ohlmeier and Emmanuel Fortuchang from Sandy Creek, Vyom Shah and Kylie Dickinson from McIntosh, and Coriana Raynor and Errol Rhoden from Fayette County.

For one student in particular, selection for the council came at just the perfect time.

“I ran for class president and lost, then I ran for class secretary and lost, then I was selected for this, the highest of honors. I am so excited for this opportunity,” says Emmanuel Fortuchang from Sandy Creek High.

Throughout the year students will have the opportunity to meet with Dr. Barrow to discuss classroom and school system policies as well as other educational related issues.
