Taking home top awards were school bus driver trainers Mary Catherine Domaleski with the first place win and Marguree Threatt following in second place.

Six-year veteran Domaleski is no stranger to the competition as she placed third in the 2016 competition. Threatt, who placed for the first time in the competition, has been a Fayette County school bus driver since 2013.

Additionally, Jim Morrissey took third place and Paul Post was named rookie of the year.

Winners received gift cards totaling $200 for first place, $175 for second place, $150 for third place, and $100 for the rookie.

During the competition, drivers completed a series of tasks demonstrating their driving skills. There was also a written exam that challenged their knowledge of safety, traffic laws, etc.

Typically, the top two performers advance to the state competition; however, due to scheduling issues, Domaleski and fourth place winner Erick Jefferson will represent Fayette County at the 2018 state School Bus Safety competition in June.
