Location, location, location and one amazing marching band was what caught the attention of a local magician and his international counterpart to make Whitewater High the focal point of one very large and amazing magic trick.
Coweta County magician Ken Scott knew that the Whitewater High School stadium would be the perfect location to perform a magic trick designed by his friend and international magician, Franz Harary, after attending his daughter’s lacrosse game at the school.
The magic trick Harary designed is over 35 years old and started at the University of Michigan where he taught himself how to design illusions by inventing magic for the university’s marching band. The first illusion he designed involved the marching band appearing out of thin air in the middle of the university’s stadium.
One Saturday afternoon before the end of the school year, Harary flew in from Hawaii to partner with Scott to recreate the magical illusion with the Whitewater High Wildcat Marching Band. Each magician took his turn with the illusion, capturing both on video and posting them to social media. So far, Scott’s You Tube video has received thousands of hits in America and Harary’s version posted on Facebook is expected to reach one billion hits overseas.
Band director Jack Jean was blown away by the experience, describing it as “a blast” and “very cool.”
In addition to taking part in a spectacular magic trick that is now being viewed all over the world, the band also received a monetary donation from Scott for their time and efforts.
