Clean Earth Club revamps Crabapple Lane courtyard

Crabapple Lane Elementary is working together to beautify their green space.

The school’s Clean Earth Club has been teaming up with the PTO to revamp the courtyard with a goal to create an engaging and immersive learning experience for all students. To further their plan, they gifted the Pre-K class with a raised bed, soil, and strawberry plants.

In the past, Pre-K teacher Ashley Fannin created a small garden for her students to learn about plants. Remembering those activities, the PTO and Clean Earth Club reached out with the donation. The Pre-K students helped plant the strawberries, and they will continue to care for their garden for the remainder of the school year.

Fannin looks at the garden as a win-win for both her students and the school as a whole.

“We hope that the students retain an understanding of the parts of a plant, the needs of a plant, and that they realize how much work goes into caring for gardens and harvesting food.”
