Grant revamps Fayetteville Elementary cafeteria

Thanks to a generous grant from the USDA, the Fayetteville Elementary cafeteria received a refresh for the new school year.

FES installed a brand-new serving line, milk box, and cashier station, and it even came branded as the “Cubs Cafe” with the school’s mascot and colors.

Because the funds came through the USDA, the school system did not have to pay for anything.

“Fayette County is very excited to receive the USDA Equipment Grant. We were able to put these funds to great use by purchasing a brand new serving line for our students at Fayetteville Elementary School. This is one of the oldest elementary schools in our district, and the equipment was original to the school,” said School Nutrition Director Kokeeta Wilder. “Due to our low, free, and reduced rates, we generally don't receive large federal reimbursements to spend on upgrades for new equipment. This was a great use of funds that will allow us to be able to serve our students more efficiently and safely.”
