Cross country squads fill podium at state meets

Local runners made themselves at home on the podium at the state cross country championship meets.

The Class AAAA meet featured the Panthers and Wildcats.

The Starr’s Mill boys were the highest finishing team in the county, placing second overall. They had five runners in the top 16: Grant Dougher (10), Denver Oates (11), Diego Ramos (14) Nat Miller (15), and Ethan Aguilera-Morton (16).

The Starr’s Mill girls finished 3rd overall. The Lady Panthers had five runners in the top 30: Ana Miller (8), Allison Moore (11), Kaylee Macoy (12), Andrea Ramos (16), and Mia Haefner (27).

The Whitewater boys finished 22nd overall. Gabriel Best placed 5th, the best individual finish in the county.

The Lady Wildcats finished 8th overall. Their top finishers were Jayla Fouse in 22nd and Brianna Valadao in 34th.

In Class AAAAA, McIntosh’s girls finished 3rd overall. The Lady Chiefs had four top 30 finishers: Katarina Soroka (11), Sydney Maranzano (23), Madeline Abbott (28), and Madison Stoots (29).

The McIntosh boys finished 10th overall. Caleb Kreitner finished 17, with Nick Carrino in 49th.

In Class AAA, the Sandy Creek boys finished 23rd as a team. Their top finishers were Sam Brown in 74th and Jonathan Adams in 80th.

The Lady Patriots finished 22nd as a team. Their top finishers were Zaria Washington and Empress Malone in 115th and 116th, respectively.
