Challenge Coin honors Work-Based Learning excellence

McIntosh High senior Emily White made history as the recipient of the first-ever Challenge Coin from the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program.

The challenge coin is a new initiative for WBL, and it is awarded to individuals who, through participation in the program, exhibit skills that provide value beyond school. These individuals must show exceptional accomplishment in a minimum of one of the following areas: communication, collaboration, problem solving, and creativity. These competencies are based on the one's identified in our county's Portrait of a Graduate and Fayette County's commitment to excellence and creativity.

Melanie Duncan, coordinator of WBL and Youth Apprenticeship for Fayette County Public Schools, presented White with the first-ever WBL Challenge Coin.

White is in her second year with the program. As part of the program, her mentor is a Florida State University professor, and her supervisor teaches STEM at McIntosh.
