Six McIntosh High students have been invited to participate in the All State Jazz Honor Band at Valdosta State University.
McIntosh students Abby Smith, Billy Stonier, Aurelius Belli, Matthew Bihuniak, Malaika Simone, and Brianna Brown were selected as participants based on their musical accomplishments as well as jazz experience.
Under the direction of professional musicians and college professors, these students will perform alongside other the jazz band members at a concert on December 1–2 at Valdosta State University.
Barbara Baker, Director of Bands at McIntosh, says, “I am very proud of not only their jazz achievements, but their interest in this challenging genre of music. I know that this event will allow them to make new friends, see Valdosta State University, and grow a great deal as musicians.”
