The Burch Bears finished the year with a bang, as 1st graders built monuments to some of their favorite historical figures.
For their last big homework activity, students picked one of the historical figures they studied during the year and showed what they learned about the person and why they are remembered. They had freedom to be as creative as they wanted with their monuments, and one student even made a video to demonstrate his knowledge of all things Ben Franklin!
Teacher Linda Barkoot was thrilled to see the finished projects.
“I wanted the students to show what they internalized about the person they chose,” she said. “It also showed responsibility to complete the assigned task.”
